Decided to start using xanga again. All started from this memorable swim meet to Sudbury last weekend. It was just a personally memorable meet, nothing to do with the people.

I have high hopes of breaking 50SC metres in 30 seconds. Vic (coach) said that I can totally do it. Started off (last year) @ 42 Seconds (1st meet), 38.38 Seconds, 33.24 Seconds, and then the last meet I went 32.69 Seconds... this year started off with 33.00 for first meet, 32.7 (2nd), 32.5 (3rd), 32.23 (most recent). It'd be matter of time I break 30, I'll do it! And when I do, i'll take over the world! Muhaha~

Oh, but the trip was fun! We took so many pictures! haha it's pure jokes, I'll post 'em as soon as I get a hold of 'em! We were flexing those pipes! Went to Pizza Hut for dinner and then Perkins for breakfast. Ohh, i'm so addicted to fluffy pancakes!

Went to underground for movie night with my suitemates. It was Deuce Bigalow and since they're international/Exchange students (from China+Thailand) they didn't get some of the jokes, it was so funny. One scene where Deuce was eatting the space cake and everything becomes trippy they were like hahaha...

I need new music. I'm getting sick of the old ones. Suggestions? I LIKE ROCK!

Omg, my suitemate's hilarious! He bought chalk. He wrote "But I am a fish" and draw a little fish on the wall downstairs where i least expect it, and then when i went to swim in the morning i saw it... i cracked up like a goofball ! He calls me mom.

What's better than going trick or treating? Getting candies w/o going trick or treating~

I like my mini-fridge, it's so nice! I bought peanut butter and jelly. I need bread. I want my PB+J Sandwich NOW!

Ps. My laundry needs to be done.

Summerlicious

We went to Acqua for Summerlicious. I forgot to take a picture of the appetizer. Edward ordered "Daily Soup", which was black bean soup or something. Everyone else ordered P.E.I. Mussel! I think Edward regrets getting the soup afterwards... As for the maindish, there was three choices, pork tenderloin (w/ nappa cabbage), salmon pizza, chicken curry pasta. This time, Connie is the odd one out, as she is the only one to order the salmon pizza, it was pretty good. The pork loin was good too.. haha i made a joke about the fact that it's the pork "loin"... and i'm like..wow, it's so thick~ But then Mike pointed out that it's tenderloin, not LOIN!! LoL, anyway, no one ordered the chicken curry pasta - i wanted to order something different, but i really didn't want pizza or curry. HMM... and dessert~ There was chocolate parfait or fruit crumble, this time around it was about half and half. Haha, i got to try both... but whichever one i have, it seems like the other one is better~

After Dinner @ My Place

A lot of lil' things here and there that I didn't mention. Such as living on resident next year:

I am getting a single room... pretty excited about this. An additional bonus is that Calument (the name of the resident I'll be with) is so close to Tait (The gym - where the pool is). Hopefully I'll like my room-mates!

Also, an old friend of mine from 10+ years ago found me on friendster~  His name is Terence (Right)! Yeah, he looks kinda scary in this picture, but he's got a haircut! I'll try to get a picture of him with the new haircut - he looks a lot friendlier! Been talking to him excessively lately.. haha...

Yeah, a while back, another friend from Hong Kong also found me. Her name is Shera (Left)~ We spoke for a bit but didn't really talk too much... I guess its because she's one of the "friends" that thinks I'm not good enough for them or something. Like I said, i didn't have friends throughout childhood... and it's not until the past couple of years that I've started making awesome friends! But anyway, it's still cool to hook up with old friends. She also found me on friendster~

"If you put 2 person in love together in a room, they will last forever..... but when they face society.. tat's wat create conflict between them." - Kevin Le

"Love is temporary insanity curable by marriage." - Ambrose Bierce

Looking back, yes, I have to admit, I was one of those stupid teenager who thinks that I'm "in love". And I've grown out of that phase! Now, I'm sick of kiddy relationship... but at the same time, I remember how good it feels to be in "love"! love, at times I think is 2 people dating cuz they're desperate, they find each other, waste a couple years of their life happy or sad, then break up. Like everything else, love has to be earned, and you HAVE to work for it. You can't pick just anyone; for example, this may sound conceited but I'm not even sure I'll stick to this... I think I might look for a Chinese husband so we can communicate and take care of each other's parent better! What I'm trying to say is, you have to have a brief outline as to who you're looking for, and not simply date whoever you meet!

Love is a thing that has no correlation with age, personally, I don't think that older people are any better at it than a teenager, becuz as one grows old and had been heart broken, they aren't as willing to open up and love without trying to protect themselves. There IS no standard way of judging if someone is right or wrong when it comes to love, just different opinions...

Love... how can you judge if someone is right or wrong in love? I think perhaps giving the other side your 100% honestly is the right thing to do. Sometimes people hold back when they say something, it's becuz they're afraid the other person would get hurt. If you really think about it though, love is not about doing the other person a favor, it's about giving them your honest side... If someone asks you out, or tell you they like you, and you know you don't like them, you're not doing them a favor by going on a date with them, or calling that person just becuz he/she had asked you to do it; yes that may give them temporary happiness, but in the long run, they'll just get the wrong msg and get hurt! If you really care for them, tell them there's no chance, keep your distant from them.

I must admit, sometimes I may front like a player, but I'm really not, if I think the other person's just playing around, for fun, and they claim to like me, then wutever, I go out with that person... we have fun, that's all there is to it. If I know that the other person is 100% serious, I think it would be smart thing to just push the other person away knowing that we can't be... instead of dragging it along... The result of my motto? The person said "The hottest love has the coldest ending"... well it's becuz I don't wanna give you the wrong impression! *sigh* don't even wanna go there! No more drama! It's over, done and done... I respect your decision, and that's that!

There's nothing wrong with wanting to have fun, but make sure the other end is also there to have fun, otherwise it'll just turn bitter...

At times (and I think I still think this way as of now) I think there IS no such thing as love, becuz... what's love, maybe we should say it's conditionally liking someone. You like someone in condition that they like you back, that they treat you good, that they stay loyal to you... In a relationship when a person breaks up with the other, sooner or later, that person gives up, becuz that "love" was conditional, when the other person breaks up with him/her, it's just the matter of time that he/she will get over her. Also to say you love someone... if you're in a relationship, and you think you love the other person, and finds out that he/she cheated on you, do you still stay with them? If not, then you like them in condition that they stay loyal to you. No? To truly say you're in "love" you're saying you've lost all logical sense, and no matter how poor the other person treats you, you'll still stay with that person...

Do I still believe in love then? I'm not quite sure of the answer myself... maybe, if I find someone special enough to tie me down... someone worthy enough of my love. I don't want to be a hypocrite and be bitter in love saying it's not gonna happen, becuz I know I'm the type that fall easily... but from now on, I'll only settle for the best!

This was once how I felt, which was pure drama... Until I find that special someone that's capable of tying me down and making me fall in "love" again... I will be bitter in love, and not be in Long Term Relationship...

Before I started this entry I thought I was going to have a deep and meaningful view of what love is... but I'm just so sicken tired of the idealistic picture of how sweet love can be, and I admit that I'm bitter now... At times, I think that love is fate, and the right person WILL come eventually... but then there were another period of time where I think, love is about two people "falling in love" and working it out, no matter what trouble they face, they face it together! Now? i don't know, i don't think I even care anymore!

On a slightly different topic, I've had a pretty hectic week...
July 19 - Mom's birthday, went to Huong Hum for sushi and then shopping, then went home to watch Spider Man II, but didn't finish it... (Yeah, HK style @ HOME! LoL)
July 20 - Yum Cha (Dim Sum) with relatives, then went to my cousin's home cuz he had just moved in couple months ago, really nice place, haha, as my mom said, it looks likes one of those demo home!
July 21 - I dunno why, that day was really wasted, I brought my lil' brother and sister to swim in the morning as usual and then came to the office, but it took up pretty much the whole day, after work, my mom had dinner with her friends and I took my lil' sibs home for dinner while my dad and older brother stayed @ the office...
July 22 - Chris's birthday... alrdy mailed him a birthday card.. he replied through e-mail... I don't know what to say to him anymore... so I just didn't
July 23 - Well, that would be tomorrow, I was suppose to go out with my cousin, but she has work, so cancelled on me... ah, o wellz think I'll stay at the office to finish my work!

My Signature Quote - "I'm above drama; I'm a bad playmate"
Hey, I think there's a fine line being a drama queen and having a sense of humor and having fun in life. And I choose having fun in life... It's important to not always be serious yet be serious when you know is the right time to do so. Although it defeats the new image I'm trying to set (friendly with everyone), I don't care, I had learnt to stand up for myself, and I think it's an important lesson to remember. I think what I have to do is give people warnings before going ballistic on them.

Hair Cut

She has a point you know?
Exercising
I HATE having water up my nose! wtf? Where did that come from? haha... been swimming A LOT lately, and when I do flip turns, I tend to have water up my nose, oohhhhh, I just HATE that!! But yeah, I love getting all sweaty now, between gym (weight lift + cardio) and swimming (the two exercise I've been doing lately) I prefer hitting the gym, simply becuz i see results, I get sweaty... now I know that when I swim I sweat too, but I don't feel it, it's all in the water, so I don't know how much I sweated... maybe more than I did in the gym, but the point is, I don't know... and... when I do cardio, I felt it, and LOOOVE it! Love the end, where I'm all sweaty and I'm cooling down, just walking slowly... I use to love the adrenaline rush too... I still like it, but not as much as cooling down...
Food
I don't get it, I just don't, what's wrong with whole wheat stuff, I love brown rice, love whole wheat bread, love whole wheat crackers... they're healthy for you, stop complaining about 'em already!!

Week Six: Hong Kong

Brief Outline of history of Hong Kong

  • British colony in 1841 following Opium War
  • Started off as a small fishing village
  • Early 20th century shifted to manufacturing from trading
  • Japanese invasion to China in 1930 attracted them to immigrant to Hong Kong
  • US embargo on Chinese goods (during the Korean war) encouraged increase in manufacture capacity and develop service industry
  • December 1984, British agreed to hand over Hong Kong in 1997

"Relax a bit, Hong-Kongese!" - Vita commercial

Hong-Kongese
Hong-Kongese is a very unpredictable and unique species. They could bargain for anything from electronics to clothes to furniture, and not purchase it because they feel it's $2.00 overpriced. Yet go to an expensive restaurant that's featured in a recent magazine and not be ghetto when ordering the meal, with appetizers, main course drink and dessert, separately! Those of you jumping to gun guessing that they're two different group of people are wrong, because they are the same group of people, and I personally know some of them! I guess my family's like that in a way too... haha... Hong-Kongese likes to go to karaoke, very popular here in Hong Kong; they like things fast and convenient. I forgot what the other 8 were, but two of the top 10 selling items in Hong Kong couple months ago was 2-in-1 shampoo and 3-in-1 Milk Tea... Every block would be at least one convenient store; there are three convenient stores from my home to office (15 minutes walk, both in Lai Chi Kok). As I can recall from the past couple of summers, there are A LOT of commercial and advertisement for losing weight - yes, there are commercials and advertisements for losing weight in Toronto too, but compared with the amount they have in Hong Kong... BIG DIFFERENCE... everywhere you turn to, it's weight loss program A, weight loss program B, weight loss program C... Market trickery BAH, it's working on me... kakaka!

Economic
Hong Kong survived through "Fu chi cha-on", supporting a negatively valued property and S.A.R.S. yet still managed to be world's top 10 economies. Hong Kong, I am proud of you! Going into details, what is Hong-Kongese going through? When getting a mortgage, as one knows you have to pay a lump sum of money as the first payment, and then a regular monthly payment after that for X number of years. What happened to Hong-Kongese is that say the property is worth $100 000 the first payment is $10 000, then you pay $3500 each month for 3 years... then at the middle of the second year you figure that the property is only worth $75 000, yet you still have to pay $3500/month, when in the end, it's not even worth the amount you first thought it'd be worth. On top of that, we have to consider the cause and effect, why did the value of the property fall - because the economic is bad. The reason why Hong Kong's economy was so poor was simple, to break it down, Hong Kong is but another colony of Britain , no doubt they would not invest in a temporary city... they only have interest in collecting tax from them. Needless to say, China has even less of a reason to invest in Hong Kong. Hong Kong had close to zero economic growth, and suffered the most from the Asia's economic crises. Only around 2001 has it gotten a bit better, but what happens? S.A.R.S.! Personally I wasn't in Hong Kong during S.A.R.S., but my relatives in Hong Kong told me that the streets in Hong Kong are literally EMPTY during S.A.R.S. meals were HK$15 each, with the main course and a drink, a half decent restaurant's full meal course was no more than HK$35. Still business was poor.

Fashion
Hong Kong has set their own fashion trend, the Hong Kong fashion consists of bright colours such as neon pink, bright yellow, orange and green; cut up sleeves, off the shoulder top, out-grown dress with jeans. Those are just some of the many fashion trend of Hong-Kongese. Other than that, Hong-Kongese wears brand names, Burberry, Ecko, Purasuco, Calvin Klein, Puma, Guess, Phat Farm... you name it.. haha... as you know most of the clothes from those brand are made in China, what you might not know is that the leftovers gets sold in Hong Kong, only with the tags being cut off (and if you know where you get your clothes, some don't). Picture this, one of those 40 year old construction worker, eating a BBQ pork lunchbox on the side of the road during lunch, wearing an Ecko shirt... keke, well it's not a rare scenery in Hong Kong, I'd say it's pretty typical!

School
I've decided that I'm going to rent a locker in the tait building, where the swimming pool's @... oh yeah, so I've been starting that diet again... and been swimming and weight lifting... alternating between the two in the morning and in the afternoon... Damn, gotta get use to public bathroom, cuz I'd be using it the whole of next year if I'm gonna be on the swim team~! Wanna get a hair cut, really layer it, perhaps even cut it short, we'll see what I'm gonna do... hmm...

My last xanga post
Okies, so no one really commented, even though my site meter reported that there's a lot of traffic... I gotta say, you guyz haf nothing to say to me... no propz or comments... I'm a little disappointed.. maybe even sad.. *sniff*... hopefully I'll get some responses for this one!

Heeeeey, look it's me !

Aww, I don't look too happy... ... haha, no I guess I just wasn't ready for the camera... o_O??

Yesterday was my cousin's daughter's full moon dinner... it was fun, got to see my relatives! Click here to see pix!
